Malawi’s Got Talent

Our Vision

One of our long-enduring passions is exposing talent to people who have the ability to groom and develop it. This is the reason why Malawi’s Got Talent was born. This initiative allows us to bring young, aspiring individuals who are gifted in different areas in front of people who can help move their talent to the next level. This is one of Chisomo’s signature initiatives.

Program Progress

So far, Malawi’s Got Talent has brought together 120 soccer players to two events in Malawi’s Capital of Lilongwe. The athletes were selected to represent their communities by peers and coaches in their respective communities. We did this because we know that “the hood” knows best. It is the people that watch the athletes on a weekly basis that are best positioned to know their abilities and consistency which is needed for the players once they take the next step. The 120 players are part of our database which will allow us to call the most talented players to send them to local clubs once those clubs call us to say they need players in certain areas.

Two of the players that participated in the audition are being looked at by a college in the United States for potential scholarship. They are both in the application phase of their process. We are also in talks with local successful clubs who will take a look at our other players in the off season. An added success bonus is that Malawi’s Got Talent is led by William Nyambo, a graduate of Chisomo’s scholar-athlete program that saw him receive a college scholarship in the United States. William graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from San Diego Christian College and he was one of the best players at the school and in the league.

Our 2023 Goal

In 2023 we want to run our 3rd Malawi’s Got Talent scouting event with 60 players identified from different communities. We also want to send 5 players on trials to different clubs locally as well as 2 players to pursue international soccer scholarships in the United States.
